In 2008 Pomona State School received a grant from the Queensland’s 150th Birthday Community Grants Program to develop our old camphor laurel stump into a permanent art installation.

The camphor laurel has been part of our school since the school was relocated to Station Street from Stan Topper Park 75 years ago. The tree is estimated to be about 100 years old.

With the assistance of the Cooroy Camphor Wood Initiative the stump has been redeveloped and now features native animals of Australia. This valuable piece of community art is part of an everyday playground and the children love it!
