Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are
integrated into all aspects of teaching and learning at Pomona State School.
Staff and Students have access to the school's Computer Lab, and each class
has immediate access to up to 5 computers, located in pods throughout
classroom blocks. The Resource Centre has another pod of computers
that students are able to access throughout the day. The school also
has a Mobile Lab, consisting of Digital Microscope, Data Projector and
Laptop computer, which is available for all classes to borrow and use in
learning programs.
The majority of staff at Pomona State School
participated in the Intel Teach to the Future Program in 2004 and Education
Queensland's Digital Explorer's Project in 2005. Both these programs
have provided further access to equipment and professional development,
which Teachers then apply in their daily programs.
In 2007, through the Investing in Schools Grant, we
installed 3 SmartBoard interactive whiteboards in upper school classrooms.
The staff and students use them keenly and almost non-stop. A further
4 SmartBoards were installed in classrooms during 2008.
In 2009, staff have focused on engaging with Education
Queensland's Smart Classroom's Initiatives. Two Teachers have already
successfully completed their ICT Pedagogical Licence, and a further two are
working towards it. Also, most other Teach staff have successfully
fulfilled the requirements to achieve their ICT Certificate.
Congratulations to all staff involved in these projects.
