Pomona State School has a fine tradition of participation in Instrumental
Music. Our lively and talented Instrumental Teacher,
Miss Pat Collis
visits twice a week, teaching group lessons for children in Year 5 - 7.
Students are able to choose from a variety of instruments in the Brass, Woodwind
and Percussion families. They are encouraged to join the school Band as
soon as they are ready. The Band performs regularly at School Assemblies
and other school functions. They also take part each year, in various
competitions throughout the community. Students at each level are given
the opportunity to attend annual, week long, Music Camps, organised by the
Sunshine Coast Instrumental Music Teachers.
Many instruments are available for loan through the school. The loan
period is typically 12 months, after which students are encouraged to purchase
their own instrument. This is turn provides opportunity for new students
to continue to enter the program.
